Our offices remain closed to the public. We are sorry for the disruption this causes but the health and safety of our staff and customers are our top priority. While we would like to resume our operations, we will only do this once we are certain we have the equipment and systems in place to reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19 to an absolute minimum.

Important information on COVID-19 for our British Council customers and partners.

Following recent directives from the Kenya Government in light of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), IELTS tests until further notice in Nairobi have been suspended. Affected test-takers will be eligible for a transfer or refund by contacting our centre via email. 

However, the British Council staff will continue to perform duties that do not require contact with the public as a precautionary measure to protect our customers and partners.

Exam FAQ's

Will my scheduled test still hold as planned?

The date for your test will determine whether it will come off as planned or not. We are also unsure of how soon this crisis will be gone.  

I am yet to be contacted; does it mean my test will still hold as scheduled?

Owing to Corona-virus pandemic and shutting down of activities, I would like to know if if IELTS exams will still hold in other centers that are not Nairobi

Since I made payment over two weeks ago, the status of my test date is still showing "Awaiting Approval". I sent an email and I am yet to get a reply

I am trying to get a refund for a duplicate IELTS payment. Is there a number I can call that is still working?

Does the 25% refund fee apply in this case

The 25% fee does not apply in this case.

Will there be a delay in release and dispatch

Results for all tests already taken have been released online for 30 days. However, hard copy results can only be picked up after the crisis.

Will results be dispatched to test-takers who took their tests in locations where the British Council offices are located?

Results will be despatched to other British Council test centres but can only be picked up after we resume operations.

Are there safety precautions being put in place on test day, due to the corona-virus outbreak?

There are currently no tests running due to the lock down.

What's the checkpoint and IGSCE's?

What's the update on University exams?

These exams are not being taken at our facility since the offices are closed. If you have already made payment kindly contact the exam board or institution for more information.

How long will this examination suspension be on for?

We hope to resume full activities again as soon as the pandemic is contained.
