Role overview

BMM is a three year programme designed under the Khartoum Process, operating across the Horn of Africa region (HoA). It is funded by the EU (€40m) and GIZ (€6m). The British Council is the implementing partner for Component 4 (C4) which is focused on awareness-raising. C4’s objective is to provide migrants with information, tailored to their and their context’s specific characteristics that will allow them to make better informed choices about migration. The focus is primarily on increased safety, and also includes alternative livelihood options.

C4 is structured around five sequential results. The first result is a regional scoping research report, which was completed in 2017. The four following results are sequential, and will be conducted in each target country in turn:

  • Result 2: Intervention strategies developed for each priority geographical area;
  • Result 3: CSO capacity, capability and knowledge on migration issues improved;
  • Result 4: Target groups are better informed about their migration and livelihood options;
  • Result 5: Lessons learned and best practice shared.
