Below you will find instructions on how to register for your IGCSE/International GCSE and school exams if you are a private candidate.

Register for your exam

You can register online. The registrations close on 15 February 2021.

Pay for your exam

You will find the fees for all exams listed on the registration system. Your application will not be processed until you have paid for your exams in full.

Similarly, you will not be allowed to attend an exam if you have paid but have not completed the application and submitted this along with all required documents to the British Council for confirmation of your registration.

Please note:  All payments should include an additional KES 5400 per candidate to cover the KNEC fee. Payments made without any bank transfer fees and KNEC will cause your application to be rejected. 

There are two ways you can pay:

Pay Online

We accept Visa and Mastercard credit and Debit cards only for payment. You will be directed to a secure payment page.

Please note that our payment portal will only be available from 4 February 2021. However, this should not prevent you from completing your online application

Once you have made the payment, please submit the proof of payment, a copy of your identity document and a passport size photo to information@britishcouncil.or.ke You must include your Registration Reference Number in all communications.

Cash Deposit through the bank:

All cash deposit payments should be made at Standard Chartered Bank - any branch.

Follow the instructions below to complete the virtual account deposit slip:

  • Ensure that your full candidate name is clearly indicated in the student name section. Your name must match the document (passport / Kenyan ID) that you used to register with. Your name on the bank slip must match this document
  • Enter your Registration Reference Number
  • Under Virtual Account Number please enter 9906113863629.

After making payment, send your proof of payment to information@britishcouncil.or.ke. To minimise delays you must include your Registration Reference Number in all communications.

Once you have made the payment, please submit the proof of payment (bank transfer or deposit slip) to information@britishcouncil.or.ke.

Payment in full must be received by the registration deadline of 15 February 2021.

Late registration - penalty fees

There is a normal registration period for each exam session. You may still be able to register for exams after this date, but you will have to pay a penalty fee. You can find more information about late registration penalty fees from your British Council office.

Your registration is now complete

You have successfully registered for your exam with the British Council. You will receive your Statement of Entry and information about your examination venues approximately three weeks before your exams.
