The British Council supports peace and prosperity by building connections, understanding and trust between people in the UK and Ghana. In Ghana, we do this through our programmes in arts and culture, basic and higher education, TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) and Exams.

In Arts and Culture, we build the capacity of creatives (fashion, film, music,) in enterprise development and script writing using both on-line and in-person tools. We also provide exposure and mentoring opportunities for creatives including persons with disability, through pop-up markets, creative hustle events, attendance at international fairs/festivals, and through these interact with new and existing audiences.

In education, we support students in accessing a UK education through our Study UK programme and also further support the alumni of UK higher institutions through our Alumni UK programme which is a global network for people from around the world who have studied in the UK as overseas students and offer numerous ways for you to stay connected to the UK alumni community after graduation.

We administer globally recognised English proficiency tests, which help students attend the best universities and find amazing career opportunities. We administer exams on behalf of professional boards, universities, and colleges in the UK and globally.

We support skills development in Technical and Vocational Education and Training(TVET) to boost economic empowerment among the region’s youth. We focus on vocational education and training to enhance innovative skills development solutions that foster decent employment in line with government policy and commitment to ensuring decent work to contribute to economic and social development. Our work also strengthens pathways into employment for women who graduate from further and higher education.
