Aisha Abba Haladu is a woman of many talents. As an undergraduate student at Bayero University, she is pursuing a degree in English Language. However, her interests and activities extend far beyond the confines of academia. Aisha is also a poet, writer, and entrepreneur. She is the force behind All Scents and More, a local incense company catering to both men and women. Her passion for English education was ignited by her father’s legacy, a professor whose journey she aspires to emulate while forging her unique path in the arts, writing, and entrepreneurship.

Amidst her diverse pursuits, Aisha discovered the Skills for Inclusive Digital Participation (SIDP) Programme. The SIDP Programme aims to provide digitally excluded individuals with the skills necessary to fully participate in the digital economy and broader society. Recognising the potential benefits, Aisha enrolled in the programme to acquire digital skills not only to enhance her business but also to enable her to become a facilitator for the programme in her local region.

“The programme gave me comprehensive training on navigating the digital landscape. Through SIDP, I gained a solid grasp of content creation, vital for any entrepreneur. I also learned how to develop and run digital ads, which has been crucial for my business,” Aisha explains.

Upon completing her training, Aisha became a facilitator for the SIDP Programme. She has since trained hundreds of trainees, many of whom had no prior interaction with a computer. The programme introduces participants to both hardware and software components, unveiling the transformative power of digital technology in creating new opportunities.

“The greatest satisfaction I derive as a facilitator is witnessing the transformation the SIDP Programme brings to the trainees. It not only imparts new knowledge but also equips them with practical skills, enabling them to become freelancers and tap into existing digital opportunities,” Aisha shares.

Aisha greatly appreciates the opportunity to serve as an SIDP facilitator, as it has enhanced her personal skill set in teaching. Having benefited from the programme herself, she now harbours ambitions of becoming a serial entrepreneur. The skills and experiences gained through the SIDP Programme have bolstered her confidence in achieving this goal."
